There is not a lot I miss about living in northwest Florida (aka lower Alabama). Once in a blue moon I miss the beach, not very often being ginger and all. I miss some friends and family. But what I really miss is being 2-3 hours from New Orleans and 45 minutes from Mobile for Mardi Gras. Up here people don’t even know what a King Cakes is so I took it upon myself in my busy schedule to come up with a fast way to make one of the things I miss so much.
First I started out with these ingredients, the babies will melt in the oven so I’ll explain what I did with them further down the list:

That is 3 cans of Pillsbury cinnabon cinnamon rolls, a jar of sprinkles from walmart that includes purple, green, yellow, and pink, and a pack of mini plastic babies from the baby shower party section.
First thing I did was open up each can, mush all the dough together and then roll it out into one long skinny “rope”

Next I took the 3 ropes and braided them together then connected the ends and mushed them together and placed it in the pan.

For baking I initially followed the directions on the package but realized later that I should have turned down the oven a tad and baked it for longer.

After letting it cool a bit I injected a baby down between some of the strands and then used the 3 packages of icing that come in the cinnamon roll cans to ice this beast:

Finally I sprinkled it with purple gold and green goodness alternating around the cake.

I would have loved to surround it with some mardi gras beads but there you have it, a simple homemade king cake. Laissez Le Bon Temps Roulet!

OK so it’s getting cold here and I can’t find really THICK knee high socks anywhere to save my life. So, I decided to try making some of my own. Any more I make after this will be thicker but I had this sweater from target that I haven’t worn in at least 2 years… so I killed it…

Phase 1: I put my little feets through the arms to make sure they were as long as I wanted, then cut around the shoulder seam on the outside so that the arm didn’t fall apart on me.

Phase 2: I cut around my foot on the body of the sweater to create the bottom. Sorry I didn’t take a pic of that but it’s like 40 degrees here and I’m in the basement and I had to put some damn socks on.

Phase 3: I turned the sleeve inside out and flipped the bottom over and sewed a zigzag stitch all the way around.

Phase 4: I tried them on to make sure they fit OK before cutting off all the extra material then, flipped them bitches right side out and my feets are warm and cozy!

And then I debated whether or not to put it on Tumblr…but I decided it was important. Because in my own way, I can (unfortunately) point out exactly what is wrong with men when they don’t realize how hard it is to be a woman. How we do not have equal opportunities and freedoms in everyday life….

Not really sure how I feel about this.
I just finished the book series a few weeks ago and I was really excited to find out there was a game coming out.. until I investigated the company making it, Little Orbit.
The ONLY games they show on their website as their creations are: Busy Scissors (DS/Wii), Sherlock Holmes (iphone/ipod), and Young Justice: Legacy (Xbox/PS3/DS/Wii) . Busy Scissors was what did it for me, and that 2 of their 3 games are well phone apps / ds games.
The fact that they have Young Justice coming out in early 2013 on all systems might be good for Mistborn, I will try to hold out for gameplay videos of that before I completely write it off.
My vision for a Mistborn game was a little more exciting, something the books really deserve. I saw it more as either an Assassin’s Creed/ inFAMOUS type game, with all the jumping from building to building, OR as an MMORPG where you could choose to be a Mistborn, Misting, Koloss, Soldier, or maybe even Terris or Kandra.
I just really hope they don’t screw this up.

so on top of the below list of zombie related incidents:

We now have the intestine guy in new jersey:

As well as… DUN DUN DUN!
This lovely gem my boss sent me today:

I’m sure my dear chicken loving bestie will be madly head over heels for the above story. We’ve needed a good serial psycho to add to everything else that’s been going on.

Apparently we need to have a conversation about the above photo. Granted, that sign is from Australia but it’s the same thing regardless of which way the arrow is pointing or what side of the road you drive on.
That my friends is a sign pointing to an area off the side of the road for polite slower drivers to get the bloody hell out of my way when I’m driving to work. “Slow Vehicle” does not just mean dump trucks, semis, tractors, and the like, it also means the elderly, sunday drivers, 16 year olds that just got their license, vacationers checking out the scenery, or anyone else that insists on driving below the speed limit.
In other words, if there is a car behind you and you feel it necessary to drive slower than I could walk to work, pull over, that way I can get to work and you can enjoy your panic stricken or leisurely drive through the mountains.

I can see how my second email I may not have explained myself quite as well as I have in the others but still…

My response:
Original Message:
Date Sent: 5/11/2012 16:24No, that information is on your website, I’m referring to how thick the folder will go. As in, how thick of paper the folder will hold, 1/4”, 3/8”, 1/2”, etc.
Which then, of course, prompted this response from Vista Print:
Dear Jessica:
Thanks for contacting Vistaprint, where it’s easy to make an impression for less.
We are happy to provide that information to you.
The folders that we offer has Two 4.5” (height) glued pockets
Base on the size of the Folders, the recommended size paper to be placed inside (8.50” x 10.98”).
Legal paper size (8.5” x 14”) will not fit properly in folder.
We hope this information is helpful.
Please feel free to contact us if you have additional queries.
Thank you for choosing Vistaprint.
Sincerely,
Trevoy

Which then, of course, it being Monday, prompted this response from me:
You are a print company this should not be that hard. I realize that a majority of your customers are soccer moms, retirees and companies that just don’t know any better, but this is still information you should have on file. I need to know the capacity of the folder. Capacity means how much paper the folder will hold. Hence the reason I asked how THICK the folder would go or how THICK of a stack of paper it would hold not if it held 8.5 x 11 paper.
ca·pac·i·ty/kəˈpasitē/Noun:
- The maximum amount that something can contain: “seating capacity”.
- Fully occupying the available area or space: “a capacity crowd”.
Will it hold a 1/4” stack of paper? Will it hold a 3/8” stack of paper? This is information your company should have on hand.
Brilliant Idea!!

You have just followed me on my personal Twitter, and peaked my curiosity.
This was in an email I received at work today. It reads as a form email and I feel I am doing this poor guy a disservice by not responding and correcting his poor grammar in a letter he is using to promote his company.
The correct term is to say it piqued his curiosity. Food for thought kids. Maybe one of you will use it correctly in the future.
